Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters' Association President Hayrettin Uçak told AA (Anatolian Agency) correspondent that there has been a remarkable increase in food exports in recent weeks. Stating that both the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry have taken the necessary precautions regarding exports, Uçak said, "We establish a link between our exporters and the ministries. TURKISH TOMATO EXPORTS TO RUSSIA CONTINUE AFTER DISRUPTION OVER QUOTA LIMIT...

Press release... Turkish tomato exports to Russia have resumed on March 7 after a month-long disruption due to the yearly quota limit. Moscow decided to lift the yearly quote from 150,000 tons to 200,000 tons after some containers carrying Turkish tomatoes were returned last month, saying that the quota limit was already met. “We exported 98,000 tons of tomatoes to Russia in 2019. Turkish exporters can send 50,000 tons [of tomatoes] in a couple of months. Thus, we want the quote to be removed completely,” said Hayrettin Uçak, chairman of the Aegean Union of Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters. Turkish Trade Minister Ruhsar Pekcan and Agriculture Minister Bekir Pakdemirli are in talks with their Russian counterparts to lift the quotes in bilateral trade and they expect the trade diplomacy to bear fruits in the upcoming months, said Uçak. Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters' Association Chairman Hayrettin Uçak said that Turkey  ranks 10th in the world in terms of grapes exports.  "The most producing countries are China, Italy, USA, Spain, France, Turkey, India, Argentina, Chile, Iran, Egypt. 2018 grape exports in the world 4 million 873 thousand tons, 180 thousand tons with Turkey ranks 10th. One of the most important products in fresh fruit and vegetable exports is table grapes.
