To our Farmers Union family: This is a strange and difficult time. We are all concerned about what the coronavirus pandemic means for our health, our livelihoods, our food system and our communities, both in the short and long term. There is still a great deal of uncertainty, but National Farmers Union's staff is, as always, dedicated to making sure that our members have the information, resources and support they need. For the time being, our priority is to inform legislators and the administration of the current and expected needs of Farmers Union members and their communities. We are actively working with agricultural leaders and other organizations to minimize disruptions to agricultural supply chains and markets. We have also called on the administration to take swift action to ensure an adequate agricultural workforce is available. NFU Hosts 118th Annual Convention... More than 500 National Farmers Union (NFU) members from across the country gathered in Savannah, Georgia from March 1-3 for the organization's 118th Anniversary Convention. Over the course of the event, attendees engaged with industry experts, policymakers, thought leaders and fellow farmers on the issues that matter most to them, including farm economy, mental health, corporate consolidation in the agricultural sector, climate change and sustainability, and the success of the next generation of family farmers. Keynote remarks were delivered by Matt Paul, a nationally recognized expert in public affairs and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue.
