According to a statement from the Ministry, sugar factories continue to work rapidly throughout the country, beet production is also increasing gradually. Beet production in Turkey is expected to exceed 21 million tons this year with an increase of 11.4 percent compared to last year. In the marketing year 2019-2020, an additional 1.5 million tons of sugar beets were produced within the scope of the quota, reducing starch-based sugar quotas to 2.5 percent. All sugar consumed across the country is produced by domestic and national sources. 95 percent of sugar production is obtained from beet by the way.
