USA RULE IN FAVOUR OF TURKISH DRIED SOUR CHERRY EXPORTERS...

The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has ruled in favour of Turkish exporters and dropped its preliminary anti-dumping duty and countervailing duty investigations on imports of dried sour cherry. The U.S. Department of Commerce launched the investigation in December upon complaints from various American companies and a business body that additional customs duties might be levied on Turkish cherries. Had the ITC ruled against Turkish exporters, it may have affected some $1.2 million worth of dried tart sour cherries exported to the U.S. annually, according to 2018 figures. Following the loss of a preliminary case that had bipartisan support, the Turkish Ministry of Trade, Aegean Exporters' Association (EİB) and Turkish exporters along with an expert law firm joined forces to defend the Turkish case. TURKISH CHERRIES BLAMED FOR SELLING AT LESS THAN FAIR VALUE IN US...

The U.S. Department of Commerce ruled against Turkey in its anti-dumping duty (AD) and countervailing duty (CVD) investigations on imports of dried tart cherries from the country, saying it found Turkish exporters had sold dried tart cherries in the U.S. at less than fair value. The department announced it finalized the investigation on Friday in line with complaints and petitions filed by a Dried Tart Cherry Trade Committee of various American firms in the industry. The department's decision will be evaluated by the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) on or around Jan. 21, 2020, read the statement. If the ITC makes affirmative final injury determinations, additional customs duties might be imposed on Turkish cherries. If the ITC makes negative final determinations of injury, the investigations will be terminated and no orders will be issued.
