DISTANCE EDUCATION SYSTEM TO PROVIDE EXTENSION AND INFORMATION TO FARMERS ACROSS TURKEY...

It has been reported that a new format has been added to the agricultural training and extension activities for farmers, producers and forest villagers under the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) measures.

Within the scope of the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) measures, a new format, named Agriculture Forestry Academy, has been added to the agricultural training and extension activities for farmers, producers and forest villagers. The information on the subjects they need to farmers and producers will be delivered through the course videos and training videos to be published on the internet.

Emphasizing that farmers can quickly access the information they seek through Agriculture Forestry Academy, Samsun Province Agriculture and Forestry Manager İbrahim Sağlam, in a written statement, said, "This portal started to serve from the addresses of 'akademi.tarimorman.gov.tr' and 'www.tarimtv.gov.tr'. The probability of the outbreak in the future shows that distance education has become a necessity, not a luxury. With the distance education model developed and put into service by the Education and Extension Department within our Ministry, the access to information independent from time and place has been paved the way."

Explaining that the distance education system was put into operation in order to provide training and information to whole farmers and producers, Sağlam added, "With the distance education system, our farmers will be able to watch live broadcasting lessons programmed on the internet broadcasting of our ministry via Agriculture TV (www.tarimtv.gov.tr) taking into account the appropriate hours. They will also be able to attend live broadcast courses if they need it. These lessons given by our Ministry's expert educators and university teachers will be repeated on our TV during the day."
