Turkey collected nearly 728,000 tons of cow milk in November, the country's statistical authority announced on Jan. 13. The November figure dropped by 2.1 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, the Turkish Statistical Institute  - TURKSTAT (TÜİK) said in a statement. "In the January-November period, [the cow milk production] decreased by 5.2 percent when compared to the same period of the previous year," it added. In November, some 128,700 tons of drinking milk was produced, down 2 percent from the same month previous year. The data also showed 20.4 percent rise in cream production, and production of drink made of yoghurt rose by 6.8 percent in November. Cheese production from cow's milk dropped by 1.2 percent, butter production decreased by 7.9 percent, while whole milk powder production went down 14.4 percent. Turkey collected 730,516 tons cow milk in September, the country's statistical authority announced on Nov. 13. Cow milk production dropped by 7.3% year-on-year in the month, Turkish Statistical Institute ( TÜİK ) said in a statement. In September, 112,983 tons of drinking milk was produced, down 5.2% from the same month last year. Data also showed that cheese production from cow’s milk fell 4.6% on an annual basis to 55,486 tons. "Cheese production from sheep, goat, buffalo and mixed milk was 2,120 tonnes increased by 20.9% when compared to the same month of the previous year," it added. In October, Turkey also produced 101,449 tons of yogurt , 65,045 tons of the salty yogurt drink, ayran , 5,839 tons of milk powder, 5,290 tons of butter , and 2,596 tons of cream. Turkey ’s red meat production surged in the third quarter of 2019, the country’s statistical authority said on Nov. 12. Turkey produced 443,014 tons of red meat in the July-September period, marking a 30.5% rise year-on-year, the Turkish Statistical Institute ( TÜİK ) said. The figure for July-September, when the Feast of Sacrifice was celebrated, was also up 73.4% from previous quarter. The red meat production consisted of cattle (398,024 tons), sheep (34,726 tons), goat (10,251 tons) and buffalo meat (13 tons).

Turkey 's dairy production went down on an annual basis in August, according to Turkish Statistical Institute ( TÜİK ) on Oct. 11. The amount of milk collected from cows dropped by 7.4 percent year-on-year to 777,969 tons in August, TÜİK said in a statement. Integrated dairies produced 112,365 tons of drinking milk, marking a 13.1 percent drop during the same period. TÜİK data showed that cheese production from cow’s milk slipped 10.4 percent on a yearly basis to reach 54,439 tons in August. "Cheese production from sheep, goat, buffalo and mixed milk was 3,301 tons which increased by 12.6 percent when compared to the same month of last year," it added. The country produced 107,264 tons of yoghurt in the month, down 0.2 percent from August 2018.

Chicken meat production in Turkey rose by 0.9 percent in August on an annual basis, Turkish Statistical Institute ( TÜİK ) announced on Oct. 11. Chicken meat production amounted to 163,437 tons in August, while turkey meat production totaled 4,724 tons, TÜİK said. The number of the slaughtered chicken was 93 million in the same month, down slightly by 0.1 percent versus August 2018, the institute noted. It added that the number of the slaughtered turkeys declined by 8.1 percent to 487,000 over the same period. In 2018, Turkey's chicken meat production totaled 2.16 million tons. Throughout the year, the country also produced over 69,500 tons of turkey meat and 134 tons of quail meat. The official poultry production report also revealed that hen egg production in Turkey totaled 1.6 billion units, improving 1.4 percent year-on-year in August.
