Press release... EURASIAN AND BALKAN COUNTRIES AGRICULTURAL JOURNALISTS FORUM HELD IN ANTALYA... Turkish Guild of Agricultural Journalists (TGAJ) organized another international event in Antalya after last year's Middle East Agricultural Journalists Forum held in Istanbul. The Antalya Forum, convened with 35 colleagues from 22 countries, took four days between 04 - 08 November and highlighted the key points of agricultural journalism both abroad and in Turkey. Owen Roberts, President of IFAJ and Hugh Maynard, General Manager of IFAJ also participated in the event. During the itinerary international ag-journalists took the opportunity of visiting orchards, greenhouses along with agribusiness sites situated across Antalya region. One of the features of the current US hegemony is its influence on culture across the world through Hollywood and music. Yet, movies and music are just one aspect of culture. In another more important aspect—food—the US fares less well, according to new research. In a study published by the National Bureau of Economic Research, Joel Waldfogel highlights the importance of cuisine in cultural trade and suggests countries such as Japan, Italy, China and India benefit when their cuisine is sold abroad. In the study, Waldfogel explores the implicit trade involved in cross-border culinary consumption using market research data from Euromonitor for food expenditure and TripAdvisor for restaurant cuisines of 52 countries. He finds that Italy and Japan were the largest net exporters of cuisines (excluding fast food) in 2017. Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, within the scope of the 5th Gastromasa Conference, hosted 20 world renowned chef through the inspiring journey in Turkey. Chefs admired the city's food, art, culture and history. Turkey, adopted in the gastronomic network first UNESCO city of Gaziantep, the owner-chef in the field of gastronomy in the world were the guests. Chefs who visited Gaziantep examined baklava making and got information about local dishes and products. Star chefs who visited Zeugma Mosaic Museum, Coppersmiths Bazaar, along with click-through hammer sounds saw the operations made to the copper closely.
