ŞABAN TURGUT: TURKEY'S DIVERSITY IN TEA EXPORTS IS GROWING EVERY YEAR

Turkey exported tea worth $3.8 million (TL 26.10 million) during the first quarter of this year, with a 51% year-on-year increase, according to the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association (DKİB). The DKİB data showed that 1,047 tons of tea were exported from Turkey to 75 countries during the January, February and March period, Anadolu Agency (AA) reported on Wednesday. Tea exports totaling around 880 tons generated $2.5 million during the same period of last year. Accordingly, the tea exports increased by 19% in amount and 51% in value in 2020. Belgium took the lead in tea exports, with $1.4 million worth of exports to the country. The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and Germany followed Belgium with $504,417 and $422,793, respectively. The northern Black Sea province of Rize recorded the most tea exports with a share of $2.2 million, followed by Istanbul with $573,836 and capital Ankara with $231,398. Turkey’s exports to Russia hit over $700 million in the first two months of this year, a 26% increase compared to a year earlier, data showed. More than 500,000 tons of products from 27 sectors were sold to Russia in January and February 2020, up from nearly 388,000 tons of goods in the same period last year, a 30% surge. Those sales generated more than $700 million in revenue, up 26% in year-on-year value from just over $555 million, according to data from the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association (DKİB) Sunday. Fresh fruit and vegetables led the way among goods exported to Russia at $149 million, while $104.4 million worth of the same goods were exported in the same period of 2019, marking a 43% year-on-year increase. TURKEY EXPORTS 5548 TONS OF HONEY TO 45 COUNTRIES...

Turkey exported honey to 45 different countries in 2019, including Germany, the U.S., Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Oman. Turkey earned revenues of $24.8 million from its honey exports, which reached 5,548 tons last year according to data compiled by Anadolu Agency from the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association (DKİB). Germany was the top market for Turkish honey with $8.8 million, followed by the U.S. with $4.3 million, Saudi Arabia with $3 million, Kuwait with $1.5 million and Oman with $775,261. Ahmet Hamdi Gürdoğan, deputy head of the exporters' group, pointed out the increasing demand for Turkish honey abroad. TURKISH TEA EXPORTED TO 103 COUNTRIES...

Turkey exported tea worth $10.8 million to 103 countries in the first nine months of this year, according to the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association (DKİB). DKİB data showed that the $10.8 million in revenue was generated from 3,088 tons of tea exports during the January-September period of the year, Anadolu Agency (AA) reported on Wednesday. Turkey exported 2,035 tons of tea during the same period of last year, amounting to $8.3 million in revenue. Thus, tea exports increased 52% in quantity and 30% in value compared to the same period of last year. Belgium took the lead in tea exports with $4.5 million, followed by Germany with $1.5 million and the Northern Cyprus with $1 million. In the January-September period of this year, 2,170 tons of tea was exported from the Eastern Black Sea region to 23 countries, generating $6.2 million in return. In the January-August period of 2019, Turkey exported $1.2 billion worth of fresh fruits and vegetables to 114 countries. According to data from the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association (DKİB), Turkey exported around 2 million tons of fresh fruits and vegetables to 114 countries in the first eight months of the year, generating $1.2 billion in revenue. In this period, the Russian Federation took the lead in the country's fresh fruit and vegetable exports at 455,190 tons. During the January-August period, fresh fruit and vegetables exported to the Russian Federation amounted to $375.4 million, followed by Germany with $159.8 million, Iraq with $98.4 million, Romania with $81.5 million and Ukraine with $59.1 million. Meanwhile, the Eastern Black Sea Region achieved $70.5 million in the export of 85,438 tons of fresh fruit and vegetables to Russia.
