A "Spice Workshop" was gathered by Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality...  In the workshop, evaluations were made about the spices and a road map was determined. Metropolitan Municipality, Directorate of Wildlife Protection and Agricultural Services Department of Gaziantep published the final report on spices which take place among local flavours of the province.  Four working groups consisting of experts in the field, "Spices and Gastronomy", "Spices, Medicinal Products and Food-Based Special Products", "Spices, Agriculture and Agriculture" and lastly "Spices, Processing and Economy" carried out studies. In the workshop report, the topic of spices, processing of spices, packaging of spices, use of spices in gastronomy, production of special medicinal products from spices and their ideas were debated from the economical point of wiew. While the competition between Denizli's Serinhisar district and Çorum regarding chickpeas and also between Gaziantep and Kahramanmaraş started about the patent of red pepper proceeds, Şanlıurfa has started to blame Gaziantep for sharing pistachios unfairly! Recently Gaziantep Metropolitan Mayor Fatma Şahin introduced the red pepper as the products of Nurdağı and Islahiye districts' products during the 2. International Gastronomy Festival that has highly disturbed natives of Kahramanmaraş province of which identifies itself with red pepper. Now that Şanlıurfa Mayor Zeynel Abidin Beyazgül has set forth that pistachios are grown the most in their province, while igniting a new crisis between Gaziantep. Beyazgül said, "The main homeland of pistachios is Şanlıurfa. Essentially pistachios come from the Tektek Mountains. They are really ripe and nice.
