TURKISH FRUIT JUICE EXPORTERS TARGET 300 MILLION DOLLARS FOR 2020...

Turkey fruit juice exporters have set a target of total exports of $300 million for the next year. Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Hayrettin Uçak, chairman of the Aegean  Association of Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters, said that fruit juice is an example of exports with high added value. According to data from the Aegean Union of Exporters (EİB), Turkey had a total sales abroad of $220 million of fruit juice in the January-October period of this year, with sales to 150 countries around the world. The exports numbers were flat compared with last year, except for an increase in the U.S. market. The sales of Turkish fruit juice to the United States increased by 50 percent from $50 million to $75 million. HALF OF TABLE GRAPES GOES TO RUSSIA AS EXPORTERS FEEL HAPPY...

Half of the $120 million worth of table grape exports in the period from June to October went to Russia, according to data from the Aegean Exporters' Association. The overall exports surged by 15% compared to the same period of the previous season, up from $103.6 million, the data showed. By receiving $67.1 million worth of Turkish table grapes in the said period, Russia had a share of 56% of the total exports, followed by Ukraine with $13.4 million and Germany with $6.7 million. The western province of Manisa, which meets almost all of the exports of fresh grapes, has offered overseas markets products such as "Emperor," "Razaki," "Red Globe" and "Superior," as well as the Manisa Sultani seedless grapes, a registered trademark. Turkish fresh  fruit  and vegetable exporters want to again be  Russia ’s top supplier as the relations between the two countries normalizes. As part of their efforts to achieve this target, the fresh fruit and vegetable sector attended WorldFood Moscow 2019 organized Sept.23-27. A total of 33 Turkish companies attended the major food fair to present their products to Russian importers and consumers. Hayrettin Uçak, chairman of the Aegean Union of Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters, noted that the sector’s exports to Russia totaled 938 million dollars in 2014, before a crisis erupted between the two countries. As of 2018, the total exports to Russia are at 70 percent of the 2014 levels, and their aim is to meet the 2014 numbers, he added. TURKEY AIMS TO EXPORT OF 900 MILLION DOLLARS OF CITRUS...

Press release... The Aegean Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Exporters Association's Chairman Hayrettin Uçak announced that they expect citrus production and exports to hit a record high this year. Uçak shared the Aegean Agricultural Research Institute's results on the expected yields. According to this, 264 thousand 468 tons of oranges, 121 thousand 918 tons of mandarins, 50 thousand 824 tons of lemons and 4 thousand 571 tons of grapefruits are expected this season. CHERRY EXPORTS GENERATES 183 MILLION DOLLARS IN NINE MONTHS...

Turkish cherry growers have surpassed their yearly export target of 80,000 tons, thanks to the opening up of the Chinese market and favorable seasonal conditions, generating a record 183 million dollars in revenues.  According to the Aegean Exporters' Association (EİB), Turkey's cherry exports, in the eight-month season between Jan. 1 and Aug. 21, hit 80,406 tons worth 183.1 million dollars. The figure broke the previous record set back in 2016, despite a two-week delay in the initiation of export operations. The EİB data showed that Turkey exported 78,524 tons of cherries worth 182.6 million dollars in 2016. Exports, however, declined the following year to only 59,806 tons, generating 158.9 million dollars. Last year, the aggregate cherry exports were recorded at 76,094 tons, worth 161.6 million dollars.
