TEMA CHAIRWOMAN DENİZ ATAÇ: STOP THE CUT DOWN OF TREES IN ÇANAKKALE!
TEMA (The Turkish Foundation for Combating Soil Erosion, for Reforestation and the Protection of Natural Habitats): At least 195,000 trees have been cut down! The TEMA Foundation, on behalf of the 500,000 signatories supporting the process, urges that the number of trees cut for the Kirazlı Gold Mine in Çanakkale province should be re-determined according to the legislation and immediately stopped of the EIA (Environmental Impact Analysis) process. TEMA Foundation stated that at least 195,000 trees have been cut down to 4 times the number of trees specified in the EIA report approved for the Çanakkale Kirazlı Gold Mine on 1 July and requested from the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization to suspend the investment.
