EBRU AKDAĞ: TURKEY CAPTURED WHO'S TRANS FAT TARGET MUCH EARLIER IN 2007

The issue of eliminating trans fats that is on the agenda of the world was discussed in a large-scale organization in Elazığ. The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO), held an international symposium within the scope of 16 October World Food Day.

Pointing out that Turkey's transformation began in 2007, Culinary Products and Margarine Industrialists Association (MÜMSAD) General Coordinator Ebru Akdağ said that Turkey captured the target in 2007 which put forward by the World Health Organization for the removal of trans fat until 2023.

October 16, the date of establishment of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), is also celebrated as World Food Day around the world.

Within the framework of World Food Day with the FAO Turkey Office and WHO Representative in Turkey hosted an international symposium on 4-5 October in Elazığ. The symposium organized in cooperation with Health Sciences University, Fırat University and Gazi University, also Officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Ministry of Health, Medical and health experts, academicians, NGOs and media representatives, as well as senior representatives from the private sector participated.
