Raspberry harvest began in Bursa region...
The harvest began in Bursa, where ninety percent of the production of raspberries grown in Turkey. Raspberries, whose price increased by 100 percent compared to last year, satisfied the expectations of producers.
Raspberries grown in 24 villages in Bursa, are sold at 10 liras per kg this year due to the fall in yield and recent exchange rate fluctuations.

6 thousand 500 tons of raspberries consumed in Turkey annually, but only produced 2 thousand 500 tons. The deficit of 3,500 tons is closed by importing from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.
This delicious and delicate fruit mostly used in pastry, ice cream and also to make jam. Raspberries harvested in Şevketiye village of Kestel for 20 days, are immediately taken to the icehouse after being collected and stored.
Expressing that he has been cultivating raspberries for 25 years, Kestel Chamber of Agriculture Assembly Chairman Engin Taşdemir says, "The harvest of raspberries grown in 24 villages of Bursa started 20 days ago. 12 of these 24 villages are in Kestel district. Prices are good due to seasonal conditions and increase in foreign exchange. Last year it was 5,5 liras but this year, raspberries are sold for 10 liras. Producers around here glad of selling at such prices."
