As of the end of 2018, 952 million dollars of exports were realized in the field of aquaculture and 1 billion dollars with 2023 target was already achieved. Minister Pakdemirli raised the level to 2 billion dollars after reaching the 2023 target.
Turkey, while exports to nearly 100 countries in the field of aquaculture, including Japan and Korea, countries are also important in aquaculture, such as the United States.
Having one of Europe's largest fishing fleets, in order to protect the internal resources Turkey has made some agreements with African countries, creating hunting grounds for local industrialists.
Russia, a large seafood consumer, constitutes an important market for Turkey in this area. Agriculture and Forestry Minister Bekir Pakdemirli during Russia's contacts with Russian Agriculture Minister Dimitry Patrushev making preliminary talks before agreements signed in the field of fisheries.
This year, the hunting season in Turkish territorial waters starts on 1 September, and on 15 July in international territorial waters. Fishermen are also preparing for the new season.
