TRADE MINISTER RUHSAR PEKCAN: WE WILL FORCE EVERY DOOR FOR OUR EXPORTERS
Trade Minister Ruhsar Pekcan said that long term negotiations on trade in agricultural products with China have begun to bear its fruits...
"25 tons of cherries for the first time from Turkey to China of which 20 tons to Guangzhou, 5 tons reached Shanghai. Hopefully fruits, vegetables, fish and dairy products will be following this product" Minister Pekcan said.
She came to Beijing on the occasion of Organization of EXPO 2019, answering questions of AA correspondent, she also stated that they often met with Japanese Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Hiroshige Seko at Davos, Paris, OECD meetings and G-20 Trade Ministers meetings and signed the Free Trade Agreement with this country during this year.
Pekcan, underlining that both sides are very keen on this issue, concluded:
"The trade volume of Japan about 750 billion dollars, it also consists of 73 billion dollars just food and agricultural imports. Turkey needs such a large market. But there are some sensitivities of both sides. We proceed the negotiations on this mindset, 'Let's protect our industries but open the path for exports at the same time'. Now our exporters from North Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, the Caucasus to Europe and Russia, the time has come to expand. We, as the Ministry, will be behind them with all our support. We will force every door we can open to them."
