SHEPHERDS BOYCOTT MARKETS FOR SELLING IRREGULAR SACRIFICIALS!
Ovine shepherds boycotted supermarkets for selling cheap sacrificials on social media in Turkey!
Members of Ovine Shepherds Union came together on social media with the motto of 'Claim your sacrificial' declared that they have been aggrieved by such markets just before The Feast of Qurban.
"As you can see on television and social media, markets make use of this opportunity and sell slaughtered sacrificials by instalments. But small producers will not be victims of markets. On the other hand Department of Religious Affairs and Red Crescent supported this irregularity by declaring the prices well below the real producers" said shepherds.
They warned that they were never against donations but sacrifice animals should be at least 6 months in size and flawless, yet under these conditions it was not possible to find such sacrificials at prices given by markets.
"We call for The Ministry of Agriculture to perform its duty. Also want to know that why the associations which exist thanks to us, still keep on being silent on this issue. Today price of lamb slaughter live weight vary from 43 liras to 45 liras per kg. Average 20 kgs of 4 months lambs cut for 900 liras, despite this fact it is not appropriate to sell irregular animals both morally and religously" they noted.
