Eren Günhan Ulusoy, Chairman of Turkish Flour Industrialists Association, said that Turkey achieved 3.4 million tons of flour exports, 15 million tons a world total, Turkey is a leading country in this sense...
Ulusoy also recalled that needs a powerful import for export of baked goods.
Ulusoy stated that the flour exports, which were approximately 170 thousand tons in 2001, exceeded 3.3 million tons last year and said, "We exported about 1 billion dollars of flour despite the wheat import of 1.1 billion dollars last year. We have made exports as the group of wheat products worth 2.4 billion dollars, which is about 1.4 billion dollars gross value added."
Ulusoy, looking at the picture in the last 10 years, despite the imports of 12 billion dollars, 22 billion dollars obtained as of exports, a total value of 10 billion dollars was produced, he said.
Turkey is ranked eighth in world wheat production, but indicating that because of domestic consumption, locally produced wheat can not meet exports, "We should increase our wheat production in Turkey" he noted...
