OSMAN YARDIMCI: NO PRICE HIKE IN RED MEAT, WHISPERS UNFOUNDED
Turkey Butchers Federation Vice Chairman Osman Yardımcı stated that red meat industry is badly affected by some speculations of price hikes and said, "No hike to red meat. Definitely no hike in a month or two."
No red meat raise...
Yardımcı expressed that the number of cattle in Turkey which was 14 million 800 thousand in 2016 reached 17 million 42 thousand 506 last year.
Describing that whispers around 20 percent price hike in red meat are only speculation and emphasized everyone has enough meat in their fridges because of the Sacrifice Feast.
Yardımcı also noted, "Turkey has currently no shortage of meat. To what reason some say 20 percent hike in on the way? We certainly will not hike in a month or two."
2 liras raise in one year...
Yardımcı pointed out that livestock contraction hasn't been in Turkey, on the contrary the sector expands and the works to prevent the loss of calfs has made serious contributions to the industry.
"We have a great deal of meat and also animals. There should be no import of meat from outside, food material should come but the meat should not. I also would like to remind that the price of red meat per kg is 50 liras which was 48 liras last year," he added.
"Red meat has 2 liras raise in a year. Meat is the basic food item. Red meat hike rumours do harm to the sector. Citizens get half a kg of mince but while reading the price hike whispers give up," he concluded...
