SALİHLİ CHERRIES WILL BE TRAVELLING TO FAR EASTERN COUNTRIES...
Wordly known Salihli cherries, produced in modern cherry orchards in the Kemer district of the town, have been tasting the Europeans' mouths for 4 years. But this year far eastern countries including South Korea will be having the same taste. Cherries collected from the branches are loaded into the trucks to be sent to Europe and the Far East..
Haluk Nayman, owner of the largest cherry orchard in the Aegean region which is 78 hectars in Salihli, a county of Manisa, said that they had set up the orchard in 2011 since they thought that Turkey really needed modern and large fruit gardens.
Nayman emphasized that there are 40 thousand trees in the cherry orchard, stating that the seedlings are now 8 years old, “Cherry is a very valuable fruit and there is a huge demand from abroad. A large part of the cherries produced in Turkey goes to European countries. In addition, there is great demand for cherries from Far East countries. China and Koreans want to come and visit our garden and take cherries from here. I hope that Far Eastern countries will be big importers from Turkey. Because they seek fruit free from diseases. The importance here will be selling at better prices. Cherry has a real value in Europe but it will gain more value in the Far East."
"Turkish cherries mostly go to European countries. They are shipped to Europe in 4 days by refrigerated trucks. Most of the cherries are exported to Germany, Denmark, England and Scandinavian countries. We cherish the European markets. But the export of cherries to the Far East countries holds great importance" he concluded...
