Almost 40 percent of dried fruits Russians eat up from Turkey...

Russians' choice is Turkish dried fruits...

The Russians prefer Turkish dried fruits. While Russia imports 68 million dollars of dry fruits in 2018, Turkey was the largest supplier with 26.5 million dollars. The market share of the Turkish dried fruit sector in the Russian market has reached 38 percent.

Turkish dried fruit exporters, who want to increase their 38 percent share in Russia's dry fruit imports, decided to concentrate on the Russian market.

The Turkish Dried Fruits URGE project, which is being carried out by the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters' Association, organized a marketing activity in which important connections were established on June 16-19, 2019 with the participation of 11 member companies.

Birol Celep, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters' Association, stated that they firstly carried out marketing activities within the scope of INC Congress in the USA and then secondly in Russia.

Following the meetings arranged with the participation of representatives of 18 companies in the URGE Project, Celep mentioned that they identified the United States, Russia, Japan, India, China and Brazil as target markets. "About 45 percent of the world's population lives in our target countries, they also have a 12 percent share in the export figures of the Turkish dried fruits sector. Therefore, we have identified these countries as target markets. At the end of our project, we aim to have 25 percent share of these countries in total exports" he said.

"During our programme in Russia, we visited Foodcity, which is of great importance for the trade of dried fruits and other food products. Meanwhile we met with big suppliers in Foodcity who played an important role in importing and supplying of dried fruits to the domestic market" he added.

Celep also noted that they had successful bilateral business meetings with companies importing dried fruits in Russia and said: “During the B2B negotiations, we signed 63 business meetings and then we held a special meeting with the Russian Independent Retailers' Association, which is mostly composed of regional chains. An important part of our participating companies who had a job interview reported that the job interviews were positive."

Within the scope of the Turkish Dried Fruits URGE Project, the delegation included representatives of the following companies;
