EXPORT OF SULTANİ BRAND RAISINS EXCEEDS 500 MILLION DOLLARS...
Growing in the plains of Manisa province and named after the Ottoman sultans, Sultani raisins' export figures exceeded 500 million dollars in 2018/19 export season...
As one of Turkey's traditional export products, 246 thousand tons of seedless grapes were exported to 99 countries between the dates of September 1, 2018 - August 17, 2019 in return for 502 million dollars.
Turkey, in the same period of the 2017/18 season, on the basis of the amount of 273 thousand tons of raisins exported and 443 million 127 thousand dollars had obtained as foreign exchange income.
Exports of raisins decreased by 10 percent on quantity basis, but increased by 13 percent on value basis.
Turkey is now experiencing the joy of exceeding 500 million dollars after six years. Because Turkey, at the end of the 2012-13 season, had exported 536 million dollars worth of raisins.
Average export price rose to 2 thousand 35 dollars...
Birol Celep, Chairman of the Board of Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters' Association, informed that the average export price of seedless raisins increased to 2 thousand 35 dollars in 2018/19 season and reached 26 percent increase in the average export price which was 617 dollars in thousand in 2017/18 season.
Celep stated that they are proud of all stakeholders of the sector, especially the Chambers of Agriculture, Commodity Exchanges, Manufacturers, Traders and Exporters along with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
"We have two weeks to the end of this export season. So we expect that closing the season about 520-530 million dollars by more exporting during this perion. However we also expect the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to assume the role of market maker through the Turkish Grain Board in order to continue our success in raisin exports. Our expectation from our exporters, not to make short selling. In this way, we can ensure sustainability in value-added exports," Celep concluded.
Chinese and Japanese love Turkish grapes...
The Turkish dry fruit sector has started to reap the fruits of its promotional activities in the Far East market. The biggest increase in seedless raisin exports took place in Far East countries. Exports of raisins to Far Eastern countries rose from 48 million to 65 million dollars.
Exports of raisins to the Far East countries increased by 35 percent, while the share they received from total exports rose to 11 percent from 13 percent. Raisin exports to China increased by 135 percent from 2 million 90 thousand dollars, 4 million 922 thousand dollars and broke the record. Exports of raisins to Japan; 63 percent increase from 9.3 million dollars, 15.2 million dollars climbed.
British prefers Turkish raisin cake in five teas...
The British also preferred Turkish grapes. British people eat Turkish raisin cakes next to the tea in their five classic teas. UK imported 136.7 million dollars of raisins, while Germany preferred 56.7 million dollars of Turkish raisins. Turkish grapes, worth 51.1 million dollars, were exported to the Netherlands. Italy, France, Australia, Spain, Japan, Belgium and Ireland followed.
