SAFFET KALYONCU: APPROXIMATELY 3000 TONS OF HONEY EXPORTED BETWEEN JANUARY AND JULY


Turkish honey, in the January-July period of the year, sweetened the mouths around the world.

According to information compiled from the data of Eastern Black Sea Exporters' Association (DKİB), 2 thousand 945 tonnes of honey was sold, yielding 12 million 857 thousand 187 dollars of revenue in return during the period of January - July.

Germany took first place in honey export. In this period, 3 million 721 thousand 369 dollars in Germany for 38 thousand tons of honey was sold. USA, the second with 2 million 459 thousand 724 dollars, Saudi Arabia with 2 million 6 thousand 874 dollars third, Kuwait 852 thousand 418 dollars, fourth, Austria 458 thousand 396 dollars with fifth income.

During the period in question, honey was exported to China, Bulgaria, Libya, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Somalia, Mongolia, Afghanistan and Morocco.

INTEREST TO TURKISH HONEY INCREASING

DKİB Chairman Saffet Kalyoncu said that the interest in Turkish honey is increasing.

Emphasizing Turkey's rich plant and flora diversity, Kalyoncu has stressed that as foreign markets learned this advantage, Turkish honey continued to attract more attention.

Kalyoncu, also drew attention to the fact that Turkish honey sweetened mouths in many countries, noted that Turkish honey is now exported as a branded product.

Pointing out that honey exports can be increased further, Kalyoncu said, "The plant characteristics of the regions and the beneficial nutrient sources of honey produced from these plants can be increased and the export of honey can be improved further. In addition, the geographical signs are registered and the branded products are brought to the forefront. We believe that exports will develop further."

Kalyoncu, underlined that the branded product increased exports, making the following evaluation:

"The number of countries in which we export and our exports are progressing in a positive direction. Brand awareness is in the forefront, if value-added products are created, we will reach much better points in exports. When we look at the data obtained so far, I believe we will complete this year with very good figures."
