CHERRY FROM AFYONKARAHİSAR GOES A LONG WAY TO CHINA AS EXPECTATIONS HIGH...
Director of Agriculture and Forestry Afyonkarahisar Province İbrahim Acar said that a fall of yield though it was not too much realized in cherry harvest this year compared to past years.
Stating that approximately 40 thousand tons of cherry production obtained this year, Acar said, "Afyonkarahisar cherry is mostly exported because of its quality. Especially goes to Russia from European countries. This year cherries from Afyonkarahisar went to China for the first time."
"Producers are happy"
Pointing out that Chinese market opened thanks to conducted diplomacy, Acar added, "In cherry exports the biggest obstacle between the two countries was the condition of 'keeping the product in cold weather for 16 days' but eliminates this requirement has been removed. Currently although we have exported to China at low level, though that 20 tons, but it was paved the way for coming years exporting of cherries from Afyonkarahisar to China."
Noting that about 70 percent of exported cherries produced in their province, "Cherry of Afyonkarahisar has the high quality. That's why we are able to make exports at high level" he concluded...
