ALİNUR AKTAŞ: BURSA SILK OBTAINED GEOGRAPHICAL SIGN REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE

Geographical Indication Registration Certificate was obtained for Bursa silk which was applied for registration by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality 4 years ago.

According to a statement from the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, the municipality's application to obtain a Geographical Indication Registration Certificate for Bursa silk was accepted on 12 August 2015.

After the necessary examination and researches were carried out by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Institution of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the process ended after the completion of the "suspension time periods" and a Geographical Sign Registration Certificate was given to Bursa silk.

Following the registration process on behalf of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, Patent Company General Manager Erdem Kaya delivered the registration certificate to the Mayor of Metropolitan Municipality Alinur Aktaş.

Aktaş, who included the evaluations in the statement, stated that Bursa silk is the 11th product of the city with the "Geographical Indication Registration Document" and said:

"From now on, the municipality will be especially interested in the survival of Bursa silk. By the way I would like to advice that all sellers and everyone who trade this business in Bursa, must protect and adopt this authentic value. Bursa silk was already in Bursa and we have registered it. We will be in struggle of introducing and telling our value to the world."
