In Malatya, İnönü University Food Engineering and Apricot Research Institute produced apricot kernel milk. The obtained milk was found to be a product that can be consumed by citizens with cholesterol disorders. The health benefits of apricot milk, which is still under test, are being clearly investigated.

Milk is produced from many products such as almonds, hazelnuts and soy, while Assoc. Dr. Gökhan Durmaz started to work 2 years ago with the idea of ​​producing milk from apricot seeds. The students of the faculty started the project of apricot kernel milk with Assoc. Durmaz shared its products with the Apricot Research Institute. The apricot kernel project, created by the Faculty of Food Engineering and the Apricot Research Institute, was taken to the General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies (TAGEM). The TAGEM delegation met several times each year and approved this project which was evaluated last year and included it in the support program. It is stated that apricot kernel milk is at the end of the studies in the faculty and institute and it is announced that milk is a product preferred by those who want to consume less animal food.

Inönü University, Faculty of Engineering, Head of Food Engineering Department Assoc. Dr. Gökhan Durmaz stated that milk was produced from many oil seeds beforehand and it is possible to produce milk from soy, almond and hazelnut.

"We thought why apricot seeds should not be produced and the starting point of this idea was actually a similar product that we saw in China.We started to work on apricot kernel milk together with Yüksel Sarıtepe, a member of the Apricot Research Institute. We designed this project and our project was supported by the General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policy. We are currently doing various optimization studies on the production of apricot kernel milk," Durmaz concluded...
