ZİYA ŞAHİN: WE ARE THE FIRST COUNTRY THAT HAS RECORDED THE BEES

Ziya Şahin, Chairman of Turkey Beekeepers' Association (TAB), said that Turkey ranks second place in honey production globally.

Stating that Turkey is one of the leaders of honey producing countries in the world, Şahin said," We have organized the largest world congress so far. What we want to do in Turkey is to bring together the consumers with our beekeepers. Therefore we attach importance to the fairs considerably but there should be only one sectoral exhibition."

 We are the first country in the world that has recorded the bees... 

 Indicating that Turkey is the first country in the world that has recorded the bee population, Şahin noted, "But we also have to record native honey across Turkey. Being a honey producer is a hard job, that's why we should not victimize them. Besides consumers should know what kind of honey they eat. This can be provided by registration of honey variety. Authorities should take action in order to be able to achieve so called registration."
