ALİ HAYDAR GÖREN: TURKEY REALIZES 69 PERCENT OF GLOBAL HAZELNUT PRODUCTION
Istanbul Hazelnut and Products Exporters' Association (İFMİB) Chairman Ali Haydar Gören said that Turkey enjoys the record production amount of hazelnuts with 776 thousand tons this year and covers 69 percent of global production.
Gören also noted that if Turkey keeps up the current policy, new records may come out in 2020.
Gören made the following assessment of the sector's performance in 2019:
"The most pleasing development for us in 2019, despite the decline in hazelnut production in rival countries, our country has increased by more than 20 percent to 776 thousand tons of breaking records. 56. The increase in production again to 69 percent in 2019 is the result of our efforts in the sector and the success in the fight against pests that we attach great importance to. Our exports, which reached 1.8 billion dollars in November, will exceed 2 billion dollars at the end of the year."
Stating that they aim to increase hazelnut production in 2023, "Turkish Industrialist-Exporter closely follows the technological developments in the world and increases its competitiveness in the global world by producing better quality products and is committed to reach 75-80 percent in world trade," he concluded...
