INDIA IMPORTS 50 THOUSAND TONS OF ONION FROM TURKEY AS NEW ORDERS ON THE WAY...


India has suffering reduced crop of onions due to adverse weather conditions, while trying to resolve this problem with products to import from some countries including Turkey.

Turkish producers have then exported to India about 50 thousand tons of onions in the last 1.5 months, while preparations have been started to meet new orders.

According to information from the AA correspondent, the management of India, under the influence of weather conditions, since the onion yield realized below the expectations of the people had a difficulty to meet the demand. Upon this situation India found the solution by importing this crop.

In the meantime some adjustments have been made and import regulations facilitated in India, thus paved the way of imports from some countries among Turkey including onions.

The decision has also created an opportunity for the Turkish producers and the last 45 days about 50 thousand tons of onions were exported from Turkey to India.

Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) of Turkey-India Business Council Vice Chairman Tevfik Dönmez said that India is a country where opportunities arise very quickly.

Reminding that the country has a population of 1.5 billion Donmez, so the slightest decrease in agricultural production might lead serious deficiencies  as reported.

Dönmez also said that this year, due to weather conditions in India, onion supply is experiencing difficulties, noting that the country's production is 50 percent less than last year.

Stating that India prohibits onion exports and makes arrangements to facilitate imports in this process, Dönmez noted that new orders are also being evaluated...
