CORONAVIRUS HITS EGG PRODUCERS, BANKRUPTCIES ABOUT TO BEGIN!

Coronavirus hits egg producer as well, bankruptcies begin...

The epidemic of coronavirus, which affected the whole world, hit the egg producer exporting abroad. Stating that they could not send eggs to Iran, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Kuwait, Qatar and Syria due to the virus epidemic, Konya Egg Producers Chairman İsmail Saraçoğlu said that bankruptcies have started in the sector.

"We are in a very difficult situation"

Indicating that 6 million chickens slaughtered in the last month across Turkey, Saraçoğlu said, "Last year Iraq already stopped purchasing some food products including eggs and the sector was shrinking. Now, we cannot send eggs to Iran, Syria, Kuwait, Qatar, Azerbaijan and other countries to which we export due to the coronavirus. We used to export about 280-300 lorries full of eggs a week, but the industry has been miserable for the past month when the borders were closed due to the coronavirus."

"We make a loss of 3 liras over a parcel"

Stating that the egg parcel has decreased to 6-7 liras in the country because they can not export, Saraçoğlu noted, “Since we could not export abroad, the surplus egg remained in the country. Currently our producer produces an egg for 36 kuruş (penny). Due to the problems in export, the parcel of the egg fell to 6-7 lira. We are now making a loss of 3 liras over an egg's parcel. ”

"Six poultry farms shut down only in the last month"

Pointing out that nearly 6 million chickens were sent to the slaughter due to the problems in the sector, Saraçoğlu explained, “In addition to not being able to export the eggs, we cannot import the necessary food products for our chickens from abroad. Our producers can not feed their chickens and had to send to slaughter nearly 6 million poultry across Turkey.

If these problems persist in the egg industry, our chicken assets, which is 110 million, will drop below 100 million. As far as I know, 6 large poultry farms have been closed in the last month. Hundreds of employees remained jobless. If the process continues in this way, I am afraid that bankruptcies will go on incessantly."

"Acil ekonomik paket hazırlanmalı"

Emphasizing that an economic package should be announced urgently for eggs and other agricultural products, Saraçoğlu concluded, “The cost of many imported products has gone up due to the increase in the exchange rate. Even after the epidemic ended, production under these conditions has become very difficult. Therefore, an urgent economic package should be prepared for both the egg sector and agricultural products. ”
