TURKEY EXPORTS CONFECTIONERY PRODUCTS WORTH OF 617 MILLION DOLLARS...


According to Turkey Statistical Institute (TÜİK) data, Turkey's exports of sugar and confectionery products increased by 2.9 percent compared to the previous year, in 2019 approximately 617 million 85 thousand dollars. 1

Turkey has most exported to the United States with 98 million 557 thousand dollars while it sells these products to 166 countries. This figure constituted 16 percent of total exports.

In exports, the USA was followed by Iraq with 45 million 183 thousand dollars, the United Kingdom with 35 million 469 thousand dollars, Germany with 27 million 456 thousand dollars and the Netherlands with 18 million 984 thousand dollars.

Turkey's imports in this chapter in the said period, a decrease of 0.1 percent to 170 million 981 thousand dollars. The Russian Federation took the first place among the countries where sugar and confectionery products are imported with approximately 41 million 188 thousand dollars. This country was followed by Brazil with 22 million 692 thousand dollars and Algeria with 18 million 198 thousand dollars.

Russia's share in imports was 24.1 percent, Brazil's 13.3 percent and Algeria's 10.6 percent.

Trade volume for 5 years...

Turkey's exports of sugar and confectionery products in the last five years were recorded as 2 billion 887 million 354 thousand dollars. Turkey made 972 million 662 thousand dollars of imports in the same period.

Thus Turkey's total sugar trade in 5 years to 3 billion 860 million 16 thousand dollars. Turkey's confectionery exports increased in the last 4 years, while imports remained downward.

Sugar exports amounted to approximately $ 556.9 million in 2015, $ 527.5 million in 2016, $ 586 million in 2017, and $ 599.9 million in 2018. In the same years, sugar imports were recorded as $ 165.7 million, $ 257.2 million, $ 207.6 million and $ 171.2 million, respectively.
