“TGDF follows global developments closely”

Federation of Food and Drink Industry Associations of Turkey (TGDF) Chairman Şemsi Kopuz said, in a statement, that agricultural production is faced with more difficult and harsh conditions in terms of climate change. “Especially sustainable food supply is the most important issue. Because the rapidly decreasing resources in the face of the increasing world population forces the entire chain from field to table."

Kopuz also noted, "We have a very important issue ahead of us. Future generations should access to healthy food and potable clean water. For this reason, all rings of the chain should be tightly interlocked and cooperate without losing even a moment."

Underlining that TGDF closely follows global developments, Kopuz emphasized, “The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals are a guide for us. We are aware of our homework as a federation on behalf of the sector in relation to all targets, especially the son end to hunger ’target. And from now on we aimed to correct whether we did our homework, where we have deficiencies and where we have mistakes."

Kopuz concluded his statement with the following words, "We are trying to reach big targets together in a big ship. We should go. We have a role in the well-being, health and happiness of people in this country, in this sector and of course in all the geographies we supply food, especially in this geography, so we have duties and responsibilities. And we have to fulfill these duties despite the increasingly competitive conditions."
