As named 'Lamb chestnut' took its place in mobile workbenches in Erfelek district of Sinop province with its speciality of quick separation from the bark and differet flavour

People in Erfelek district of Sinop province, one of Turkey's most important chestnut production centers, buy this chestnut by grams because of its price at 80 liras per kg.

Ali Koca, Chairman of Erfelek Chamber of Agriculture, said that the chestnut season in the region has just opened.

Emphasizing that first chestnuts harvested in small quantities to the market, Ali Koca pointed out that the price is high.

Stating that within 15-20 days more products will come down to the market, Koca noted, "Our first impressions, we have plenty of chestnuts this season, but not much coarse. Harvest started slowly, but literally will enter the forest after 15-20 days. Hopefully we will have a nice season."

Melek Sönmez, a chestnut seller, said that they are satisfied with the interest of citizens to the chestnut. "The price is naturally a little high. So we sell more grams. The price will fall as the weather cools down and come to the market," she said.
