TURKEY EXPORTS CONFECTIONERY PRODUCTS TO 159 COUNTRIES...

Turkey realized exports of sugar and sugar products to 159 countries worth approximately 292 million dollars in the first half of this year.

According to Turkey Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) data, Turkey's exports of sugar and sugar products continues rapid acceleration of the momentum cought in recent years.

Turkey has achieved more revenue from exports of sugar and sugar confectionery approximately 8 million dollars compared to the first half of this year, January-June period last year.

Sugar and sugar products imports decreased by 18 percent in the first 6 months of 2019 compared to the same period of the previous year, while exports increased by 2.8 percent. In the first half of this year, 291 million 957 thousand dollars of sugar and sugar products exports were realized, this figure last year was recorded as approximately 284 million dollars.

Most exports to the US...

In the mentioned period Turkish sugar and sugar products exports made to 159 countries. The highest sugar and sugar products were exported to the US with 46 million 458 thousand dollars. This figure accounted for about 16 percent of total exports.

Exports to the United States followed by Iraq with 20 million 64 thousand dollars, 15 million 101 thousand dollars to the United Kingdom, 11 million 986 thousand dollars to Germany and Syria followed by 10 million 79 thousand dollars.

In the given period, Turkey's imports in this chapter of 80 million 438 thousand dollars. Thus, imports of sugar and sugar products of 98 million 367 thousand dollars made in the first half of last year decreased by 17 million 928 thousand dollars.

Russia took first place with 22 million dollars in Turkey's candy and sugar confectionery among countries where imports. Russia was followed by Brazil with 8 million dollars, Algeria with 6 million dollars, Ukraine with 4 million dollars and Belgium with 3 million dollars.

According to TURKSTAT data, in the January-June 2019 period, the top 10 sugar and sugar products export (dollar) countries were as follows:
