ALİ HAYDAR GÖREN: DESPITE THE COVID-19, HAZELNUT EXPORTS INCREASED BY 53.3 PERCENT LAST MONTH


Ali Haydar Gören, Chairman of the Board of Istanbul Hazelnut and Products Exporters' Association (İFMİB), stated that despite the coronavirus (Covid-19), the exports of the sector increased by 53.3 percent last month.

Ali Haydar Gören said that the demand has not shrunk so far. "We think it will continue in April as well," he added.

According to the statement made by the Association, total exports of the hazelnut and its products sector increased by 53.3 percent in March to $ 209 million from $ 136 million. In this period, the exports of the Association rose by 105.4 percent from $ 46.7 million to $ 96 million.

The increase in exports in the sector continued in the first three months of the year. In this context, the exports of the hazelnut and its products industry, which was 432.8 million dollars in January-March period of 2019, increased by 28.7 percent in the same period of this year and reached 557 million dollars. In the same period, exports of the Association increased 19.8 percent from $ 164.2 million to $ 196.7 million.

In the last 12 months, total hazelnut exports soared by 30.2 percent from $ 1.6 billion to $ 2.1 million, while the union's exports rose by 28.2 percent from $ 669 million to $ 857 million.
