TURKEY EXPORTS 97 MILLION DOLLARS OF ORNAMENTAL PLANTS AND FRUIT SAPLINGS...
Turkey's Agriculture and Forestry Minister Bekir Pakdemirli, in a written statement, gave information on the export of tree, outdoor ornamental plant and fruit sapling.
Indicating that Turkey is the homeland of many plants and fruit species, Pakdemirli said that the country has significant advantages on fruit tree seedlings in terms of ecological and climate conditions.

In this context, Pakdemirli pointed out that last year 100 million fruit seedlings, especially walnut and almond, were produced in the country; 97 million dollars of foreign exchange revenue was obtained from the exports.
"Turkey is a net exporter of nursery sector and they are doing the necessary work to sustain an increase of earned export momentum," Pakdemirli added.
Minister Pakdemirli stated that the legislative studies on the production of saplings free from diseases and pests continue in line with the EU norms and the demands of the countries exported.
"In this context, the obligation of the exported saplings to be checked and certified in terms of diseases and pests has been prohibited. The risk of losing the current market share was prevented," he concluded...
