Aegean Grains, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters' Association boosted its exports to 56 million dollars with an increase of 120 percent and became the increase record holder of March.

Chairman of the Board of Aegean Grains, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters' Association Mustafa Terci reminded that they increased their exports by 10 percent in 2019 to 443 million dollars.

Terci said, "Although the coronavirus epidemic caused supply problems in logistics services for many products, especially food, we increased our March exports by 120 percent to 56 million dollars. In general the export amount of January-March period last year was 1.7 billion dollars in terms of grains, pulses, oil seeds and products exports rose 6 percent to 1.8 billion dollars. In the Aegean region it was 94 million dollars in the January-March period of last year, increased by 41 percent this period and reached 132 million dollars."

Vegetable oil comes first, chocolate second...

Explaining that the export of poppy seeds increased from 30 million to 75 million dollars in the period from 1 July 2019 to 31 March, Terci noted, "In the first quarter of this year vegetable exports rose to 67 million dollars by 64 percent and chocolate sales rose to 12 million dollars by 28 percent increase. Oilseeds were 11.3 million, grains and products were 11 million and our forage exports increased by 128 percent to 9 million dollars. Milling products surged by 76 percent to 7.6 million and spice exports reached 6.7 million, pulse exports increased by 39 percent to 1.3 million dollars."

Record increase to India, South Africa and China...

Indicating that Iraq takes the first place in January-March period on the basis of a 52 per cent share and then most products sold to other countries USA, Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Syria respectively, Terci added,

“Exports were made to 121 countries from Aegean Region. Among the top 10 countries; Algeria with 22 million dollars, Yemen 10 million, Tunisia 7 million, Saudi Arabia 6 million, Germany, the USA, United Arab Emirates and Libya 5 million, Angola and Australia 4 million dollars. The countries with the highest export growth were Algeria, Libya and Angola, with an increase of 796 percent and India with 3 million dollars, 1170 percent increase and South Africa with 2 million dollars, 449 percent increase and 1 million dollars. China."

Expressing that the global coronavirus epidemic, which started in China and spread to the world, showed once again that food is vital, especially grains and pulses, Terci continued as follows:
