NEJDAT SİN: FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLE EXPORTS INCREASED 25.38 PERCENT

Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters' Association Chairman Nejdat Sin said that Turkey's fresh fruit and vegetable exports in the first quarter of the year increased by 25.38 percent compared to the same period and rose to 637 million 733 thousand dollars.

Fresh fruit and vegetable exports did not slow down...

In a written statement, Sin said that in March, 179 million dollars of income was obtained from 286 thousand 710 tons of foreign sales throughout the country and a 25 percent increase was achieved compared to March of last year.

Stating that the export of fresh fruits and vegetables reached 257.37 percent year-on-year in the first 3 months of the year, Sin explained:

"The total amount of fresh fruits and vegetables exported in this period was recorded as 1 million 55 thousand tons. As our association, we achieved an export performance of 326 million 178 thousand dollars, increasing by 22.84 percent during this period."

Pointing out that most exports were made to Russia with 200 million dollars in the first 3 months, Sin noted that this country was followed by Romania with 59.30 million dollars and Ukraine with 55.41 million dollars.

Sin added that the measures taken against the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) are effective in slowing down the sector and made the following assessment:

"Despite the international impact of the coronavirus epidemic, exports of fresh fruits and vegetables continued without interruption thanks to solutions such as the Economic Stability Shield Package and the Contactless Export Model. We are happy to see all kinds of support of our state with us in this difficult process. With the power we receive from here, we will endeavor to continue our exports without interrupting."
