Chairman of Turkey Seafood and Animal Products Exporters' Association Industry Board Sinan Kızıltan said,

"We should always keep our immune system strong, not only when we are dealing with coronavirus and similar large outbreaks, so we have a minimum risk of developing diseases. Therefore, as stated by the World Health Organization (WHO), we should consume 2-3 meals of fish a week. It is one of the super foods that have a lot of support for the body that will change the indicator during the epidemic."

Omega-3 is a panacea...

Kızıltan noted that the high amount of Omega-3, especially in fatty fish, is one of the unsaturated fatty acids that cannot be produced by our body, taken from the outside and has an active role in maintaining vital functions.

“Omega-3 has a wide range of functions that strengthen the metabolism, protect the body against infections, block cancer cells, reduce cholesterol, alzheimer, diabetes risk, support the cardiovascular system, benefit from diabetes, depression, eye health, skin and hair," Kızıltan added.

Immune shield fish...

Emphasizing the fact that fish supports the protection shield of the body on the one hand without the need for medication, antibiotics, on the other hand, Sinan Kızıltan stated, "The bone, tail and head are also rich in calcium. By including fish in our nutrition routine, we can create a quality, delicious, practical, economical and healthy meal. If we make regular consumption a habit, we will be ready for all kinds of epidemics."

Citizens to eat cheap salmon and trout...

Pointing out that under the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, "Life at Home, Fish at the Table" campaign launched, besides sea bream and sea bass sold at the cost in chain markets on a three-day campaign. Kızıltan also informed that the same campaign to be organized between 20-23 April for trouts.

Indicating that 47 thousand 670 tons of seafood products were exported to 66 countries in the first quarter of the year, Kızıltan concluded, "248.1 million dollars of revenue was generated. In this period, the Netherlands, Italy and Japan were the most exported countries. Furthermore 37 million dollars to the Netherlands, 31 million dollars to Italy and 24 million dollars to Japan seafood exports realized."
