'PEHLİVAN07' EXPECTED TO CONTRIBUTE A HUNDRED MILLION LIRAS TO TURKISH ECONOMY...


The newly developed silage corn variety will contribute 100 millions lira to the national economy...

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli stated that 'Pehlivan07' silage corn varieties developed by research institutes affiliated to the Ministry and which have higher yields than standard varieties will contribute 100 million liras to the economy.

Indicating that 'Pehlivan07' variety of corn silage developed by the cooperation of Western Mediterranean Agricultural Research Institute (BATEM) and the Corn Research Institute, Pakdemirli said, "After trials took two years in 11 locations, registered by Variety Registration and Seed Certification Centre last year."

"It will make an important contribution to our livestock industry."

Underlining that silage corn has an important role in animal nutrition, Pakdemirli added, "The newly developed 'Pehlivan07' silage corn variety has 7.7 percent more efficiency than standard varieties. Thus, more products will be taken from the unit area and also contributed significantly to our livestock industry."

"It is foreseen to contribute one hundred million dollars to the economy."  

Emphasizing that the production and sales rights of the new variety has been transferred to a private company for a period of 6 years, "125 tons of certified seeds will be produced from our new variety 'Pehlivan07 and it is envisaged to contribute approximately 100 million liras to national economy," Pakdemirli concluded...
